To the Gods

This heart of mine is weary, this heart of mine is true.

This world; itís great in theory, but our morality and reason; itís gone askew.

Dark and darker times are soaring. My patience; itís steady, but itís being pressed.

The skies, the streets, theyíre roaring. Stand with me, are you ready? This is War, these scars can attest.

These selfless souls; they rest in chaos. This life of mine; itís fortune told. Nothing more then a disaster.

I stumble through these somber streets, now a past potential for an oasis. My eyes settle on this reality; the mistakes, the road less traveled, this is what Iíve come to master.

To the Gods from which we all find reason; please stand steady, please forgive whatís still unseen.

To the Gods from which we all seek haven; see the sacrifice, forgive the treason.

To the Gods who carry them across the seas; please shield them from the tears, save them from their screams.

It may be trite, but I feel your pain, the more so since you penned it so well.
