As he lays alone in his room...
The rain begins to pour outside..
as he lays in his room alone.
Everywhere he looks, she's there..
he can even still smell her perfume.
Sweet..the way she always smelled..
breathing in deeply until he had his lungs full.
God, how he missed her so...
and he still felt her familiar pull.
The familiar pull from beyond even time..
he wishes things could be the way they were before.
And he grabs a knick-knack from its shelf..
smashes it against the door!
The tears fill his eyes..
begin spilling gently down his cheek.
He whispers, "God please give me strength..
I can't do this alone..I'm weak".
Today should've been their day..
he should be walking her down that aisle.
They should be taking those vows..
as he stares..basking in her smile.
They should be having their reception..
having their first husband/wife dance.
Tears begin to flow faster now..
she never stood a chance.
Today they should've been getting married.. he had to let her go.
He had to unplug the machine that breathed for her..
because someone didn't have enough sense to know...
not to get in to their car..
after they'd been out drinking.
Tonight he lays in his room alone...
because someone just wasn't thinking.
