A Child Growing Up
We would pretend as a child, And have imaginary friends and pets That never had to go to a doctor Or seek treatment from local vets. I may sometimes act like a kid And do really stupid things, But I deal with the consequences That my action brings. I have decided to grow up, And I can pretend no more... I have waved the white flag And given in to my inner war. I will pretend no longer, Never faking another smile... I am pleading "guilty" Inside of my emotional trial. I can no longer handle this Pain and suffering that I feel... There is too much hurt, And the pain is too real. So I'm going to act like an adult And let my self-sentence be carried out, Knowing that my life proves I was never really cared about.
