Stars Shine for Us

Stars scattered across the

grey blanketed sky.

Chasing my dreams like they

turn a blind eye.

The stargazer said should I wait to wish

upon a star.

Astronomers named pieces to puzzle us

who they are.

So I stop whatever I am looking at to dream

only of you.

And in the twinkling in your eyes I could

only name you.

The prisoner in me exchange to recall when

love became true.

Now there are days and nights with the sky I

resist feeling blue.

For out of all the stars and people there’s God’s one

gift of you.

I fell in love with the stars and can’t fall out in love

with us two.

The most beautiful thing I ever imagined...

Reminds me of what Father said the first time he spoke to me!

Perfection in a poem!

Dan   Reading into what you have written,  I seem to sense a feeling that, even though the "linguistic pundits" make their pronouncements about he poem; they pale in comparison to the person that the poem was written about in the first place.  I enjoyed this.     Bruce
