Escape from the Enchanted Tree
Escape from the Enchanted Tree ( Written by Sherry Tanquary ) March 20th, 2008 dedicated to sierra and jasmin bohn
Once upon a very long time, there lived two beautiful twin sister princesses. Though they were twins and loved each other deeply and connected, they were very very different. Their beauty was very different as well. One was full of light , laughter, and enjoyment. She glowed with happiness and joy. The other was warm , compassionate and graceful. She gleemed with radiance and peace. The whole kingdom adored them so much. The sisters had two very jealous brother. The brothers often feared their sisters, as well. They wanted to rule the kingdom and the love for the sisters got in their way. They plotted and vowed revenge and to steal all the qualities beauty compassion light , that the sisters possessed On a sunny afternoon they waited for the early evening under cover of sundown, and lure the sisters into a dark lonely forest. In the forest was this large crooked lonely, twisted and enchanted tree. They convinced the sister of light to follow them under the guise of hunting and flower picking for her sister of peace. The sister of peace had over heard her two brothers conspiring together and immediately snuck through a secret hallway that led to her sisters room to warn her and flee into the kingdom but it was too late .She could feel her sisters fear and loneliness and pain and betrayal from her brothers scandalous actions and she longed to save her. She decided she would hide in a secret chamber , that her sister and her would often secretly play in and wait out the night . She planned to follow her brothers into the forest when they go hunting and riding and when they got far enough away she would slip to her sisters prison and rescue her. Because; they were twins they could feel each others presence ,so she could feel the direction she needed to go. Early morning, at the break of dawn the brothers began to ride off. She made sure to stay far enough away as to not be seen. Once into the forest she followed for a while listening to them boast about the tree and that they hoped to capture and trap her as well. They could not help but brag about the spell they got from a dark witch fairy in another kingdom that was close to theirs for payment as royal advisor to them when they are named kings. They intended to over throw the neighboring kingdom and rule both separately. She heard the verse to the spell n their conversation which made her feel confident in her sisters rescue. She began heading in her sisters pull tirelessly and determined as she got closer. Tears began to fall down her cheek. She was weary. She felt she would never make it. A few yards longer she started seeing the tops of this crooked tree. She ran faster until she arrived and placed her tear soaked cheeks to the trunk and whispered only by the whisper of family love and only by the light of hope can the tree of enchantment free the light. Nothing seemed to happen and she was frightened she spoke the  wrong words, but as the sun began to shine down from out of a cloud she could hear the trunk opening and withering to the ground . The roots began to shrink by half and she could see her beloved sister. She was week but she was thrilled and relieved to be released from the enchanted tree. She regaled her sister of the  frightening tale of how her brothers forced her in the tree and how she begged deaf ears filled with jealousy rage and greed. They decided to wait there till the beginning of sundown just before their brothers sat down for dinner and headed to their chambers for sleep. As they entered the castle they snuck into the kitchen , and secretly placed a sleeping powder into their wine. It only took a few minutes before the brothers started feeling the powder and headed to their bed chambers. As they laid down and fell into a deep sleep the sisters ordered the guards to place them in prison and lock them in shackles to keep them from trying to escape. In the morning the brothers awoke startled and angry to find themselves in their predicament . The guards went to the sisters in the throne room and advised the sisters they were awake. The sisters had them brought to them. There the sisters peacefully and compassionately let them know the charges for what they had done is death. However, they would be given the choice to either placed in exile on top of an enchanted mountain guarded by a magical dragon that would circle them on a daily basis untill they reached the age of 99 or till they died, or they could be placed on a deserted island where a volcano bubbled and oozed lava into the sea . They wanted the brothers to see the compassion that the brothers would not show them. They chose the island .There also the witch fairy was cast into the lava to fuel the constant liquid light never to curse anyone else with her treasonous spells.
The sisters soon married fine and wonderful princes of neighboring kingdoms promising hope and peace and love. As sister queens they ruled and lived happily ever after.
Author's Notes:
I wrote this for nieces when they were young. They are twins only born five minutes apart. They also have two brothers , lol
