A call that never comes
I wait for a call that never comes.
I wait as my tears drown out my vision.
I wait to hear the voice that once soothed my soul, whose very silence is now my persistent source of anguish.
I wait for a call that never comes.
I wait while the panic begins to build in my chest.
I wait night after night alone and sleepless in our bed.
I wait for a call that never comes.
I wait and reminisce upon fond memories made not too long ago.
I wait in confusion, pondering if there's something wrong.
I wait for a call that never comes.
I wait to be shown the same level of love and concern that I feel.
I wait in apprehension, wondering if you love me still.
I wait for a call that never comes.
I wait day by day as my hope slowly begins to fade.
I wait hour by hour as my plans for our future slip further out of reach.
I wait minute by minute forcing myself to continue on even though I'm dying inside.
I wait as my mind unravels and my life comes apart.
I wait for a call that never comes.
I wait as I feel my dreams evanesce from between my fingertips.
I wait as my world stops and the earth crumbles from beneath my feet.
I wait as I helplessly watch nightmares turn into reality.
And I wait without knowing the reasons why.
And still, I wait...
for a call that never comes.
