Who You Could Be
I too, used to fear the darkness of night,
Fear creeps in when your heart isn't right.
When darkness confronts the weakness within,
And light can't penetrate the fog of sin.
The mind takes inventory of the life you led,
And your memory is full of regret and dred.
Demons that haunt, break through their chains,
Raising havocs until no confidence remains.
My fall collapses from under my weight,
And I'm consumed with anger and hate.
I too, was just like you,
Searching for something far from true.
Instead of reaching out to 'the,
I gravitated to what the eye could see.
Only to be fooled, I fall to despair,
Which only added to my fear.
Lord, when will I seek the light?
And turn away from the darkness of night.
Teach me to trust in what I can't see,
Become the light that lives in me.
New hope, I found today,
When you washed my sins away.
A new beginning is mine to take,
Turned my back on the fierily lake.
I walk with purpose, I walk secure,
For the footprints I follow, are yours.
Surely you see the change in me,
This is who, you could be.
Repent my brother, before it's too late,
Only you, control your fate.
