If I could return to my past,
Empty it of sorrow, pain, and misfortune,
So that when we met, I would have been free from judgement.
Free from suspicion.
Free from guilt.
I think I might.
But, then I wouldn't know you.
Your full potential.
How far you've brought me.
How wonderful you are.
How you've changed my life.
And so my past;
The one I detest to remember,
It makes you the sweetest treasure I have,
My favorite gift from God,
And a reminder of how sweet grace is.

Well!  This sure is odd!  I've had this wonderful piece of writing in my Favortes for years.  How could I not have even commented on it?    Okay, Dori.  Here I am again.  You have spoken an eternal truth.  Our pasts have led us here.  We must be grateful for that.  As you so eloquently state, without the past, we would not recognize a gold mine if we fell into it.  Our pasts have given us the wisdom to know when we've finally found heaven on earth.  Good work.  ML
