Why I'm Waiting
During this life Iíve been through,
Iíve oft been asked why Iím waiting.
Listen closely and Iíll tell you,
A serious talk in the making.

Looking at the one to be yours,
And knowing that thereís no other,
Makes for many happy hours,
Anticipating time with each other.

Respecting the greatest gift of all,
Meant only for one person,
Sharing your heart, body and soul,
Waiting is true wisdom.

The truest kind of bride,
I will one day be,
In a meaningful shade of white,
For all the world to see.

Some say thereís much that I will miss,
By waiting until that day,
But being free from worries, risks -
Thereís nothing better, I say.

Why sell yourself short and give in early?
Momentary, fleeting bliss, and then,
A lifetime of regret and worry,
For you and your future wife or husband.

I dream of a time, of a love unblemished,
Experienced the way itís meant to be.
Ever after, for eternity, forever promised,
This is what matters more to me.

Who wants to tell their wonderful fiancť,
About their less-than-perfect past?
Next time youíre tempted and wondering what to say,
Just think about how long it would last.

Wouldnít you rather look into your promised oneís eyes,
Full of devotion and love,
Knowing that you share nothing but truth, no lies,
And that youíve been blessed from aboveÖ

You see, this is what Iíll have someday,
When the time has come and itís right,
For me and for my beloved, who also feels this way,
Truest lovers on our wedding night.

This is a wonderful write my friend. If only we could turn back the clock! There is much wisdom in this poem that especially the young amongst us would do well to ponder. Well Written Abby.
