This pencil is rusty at the work
It once so easily produced.
But life has once more breathed a name
That has this hand seduced.

Freedom has come in a memory;
In the sound of your laughter cascading;
In the thought that we were once so young;
In the knowledge that old wounds are fading.

Looking back, the image is shrouded
In a mist of both scent and sound.
It smells of obsession. It sounds like a lesson;
In life, a love lost, and a friendship found.

Author's Notes:
In 1999 - my high school sweetheart and I found each other's email address and phone numbers on a reunion website. Bad memories and a terrible breakup were replaced with maturity, stories of our children, and nostalgia. Written in 1999

This is good, Dori. i like the idea of the pencil being "rusty" but the hand being "seduced", I like the phrases "the sound of your laughter cascading" and "the image is shrouded in a mist", I like the rhymes, I like the poem. Nice work all around. Mary Lou
