No Tears on Sunday
Why, when sad, did I need you so?
Seek you, plead to you, beseech you?
Why now do I feel our distance grow?
Why do I feel further from your truth?

And yet I'm in your house each Sunday.
I'm reading about you, studying you more.
But I seem to remain untouched.
I don't feel inspired like before.

I'm afraid I only feel near you when I need you.
Could I possibly be the owner of that selfish a heart?
Or is this the normal transition from immaturity
To the point where my growing spirit starts?

Could your silence be a hint
That it's time for me to find my place
In some capacity to give back to you
For your unending grace?
Author's Notes:
I used to go to church and just cry - like each word out of the pastors mouth was meant for me. But I was so unhappy then, so empty inside. Now that I'm happy, it seems so weird to sit through a message on Sunday and leave without a single tear.
