Nighttime's Beauty
You tell me the nighttime is pregnant with danger;
Weaving her spells of pain and of anger;
Encompassing daytime in the shadow of Death
While wisps of blackness escape from her breath.

You tell me the night is filled with disaster;
The plotting of evil by tyrants and masters
Where darkness is synonymous with terror and malice
And the sounds of its monsters fill Queen Darkness' palace.

Come, take my hand and I'll show you her beauty.
This place of wonder and time honored duty.
Where the things of your dreams run wild and hazy.
And your imagination can run torrent or lazy.

I'll show you a world ruled by desire;
Hunger and passion and emotions on fire.
A place where your falsehoods and egos are severed;
A place that you'd want to stay trapped in forever.
Author's Notes:
Written when I was 19. I was REALLY big into Phantom of the Opera my first year of college (was a theater major at Kilgore College). This was somehow inspired by my love for that play.

This is really nice. Young Dori did good work. I especially like verses three and four which are, well, pure poetry. Very romantic poetry. Well done. ml
