A Gift
I think people wonder why I keep a diary,
Still?, they ask, as though itís only for little girls.
Well, I start to explain, Before I go to sleep,
I like to record my day Ė my experience of the world.

I keep stories, mental pictures and good amount of laughter,
Fun times, craziness and a few tears that bled through,
Firsts, lasts, greatests Ė so many of my adventures,
Cooties and crushes and some college drama too.

First, pages made of love, and ink filled with dreams,
Wishes sprinkled in, frustrations here and there,
Add a little hope, a thousand prayers it seems,
Family and friends, and boys just everywhere!

Itís crazy to look back, to sit down and just read,
Remembering my yesterdays guarantees a smile,
I canít wait to turn the page, to find what will proceed,
Lost in wrinkles in time for awhile.

BTW means ďBy the Way,Ē
Smileys and years of improving cursive,
FMI equals ďFor My Information,Ē
Things I write for my future self to relive.

Iíve long been addicted to my diaries,
Seriously, I canít live without them.
An entry almost every day for over ten years -
Maybe thatís why Iíve got seven!

So, next time you have a wedding,
And you wonder what to give the flower girl,
Just pick up a little pink diary -
Itíll change her whole world.
