You Gave me God Back
It started as a reason to get out of bed.
"Mama, can Cole and I pray?"
Though I knew it was a ploy
I could not turn you down that day.

"Thank you, God, for my day.
Thank you for my Mama and Chaddy.
Thank you for my brother.
Thank you for my Daddy.
Thank you for my teachers.
Thank you for the trees.
Thank you for my lips
So I can kiss my Mommy."

And from those funny, simple words
Something began to seep.
Deep into my heart
A warmth began to creep.

"Mama, Mama! I forgot to say something!
Thank you, God, for the air I breath.
Thank you for Jesus.
Oh, and thank you that you love me."

You did not know that my heart felt dried up.
Did not know that I had gotten off track.
You had no way of knowing what your words would unlock.
Thank you, thank you both, for giving me God back.
Author's Notes:
I swear that is almost word for word the prayer that Pearce said and Cole repeated the first night we began to pray together. God gets through any way He can. We just have to listen. To be still and listen.

Miracles do happen...and when you least expect it.
This is very inspiring and refreshing to read.
Indeed God moves in mysterious ways.
Very beautiful poem Dori.
Congratulations on an award well-deserved.

God will use whatever He thinks necessary to get us on track. Your kids didn't know you were off track but God sure did. glad you got back on track.
