Much Too Soon
As we walk,

I turn to you and say

“Come, walk beside me.”

And I see,

Your ten-year-old hand

Reaching for mine.

And I think,

How good it is

That you still want to hold my hand.

And I wonder,

How much longer

Will your hand reach for mine.

And I know,

The answer is

It will happen much too soon.

I have often thought about this very topic, it's a heartbreaking reality that our precious little ones grow up and become independent, therefore needing us less and less.
I fear the day Christian will be too embarressed to kiss his daddy.

beautiful write my friend, and the name fits the poem perfectly.

Dear Cari-
Enjoy these moments and cherish them-
I remember the feeling I got the first time
my son and I were at the mall and he told
me hanging out with your parents isn't cool-
I knew he was growing up-
The peace came when I realized that in more trying moments to come in his life that
he will still be reaching for my hand-
And that he knows it will always be there
no mater how old he gets-
This was a great moment in your life to have
recorded in thought-
Best Wishes My Friend~
Peace~
James
