Let's Eat At Howley's

There’s a place I eat at three times a day

They’ve been open for 50 years they say.

You can have breakfast, lunch, dinner or a quick bite

The food has to be good … it’s cooked in sight.

Once they know you, the waitress will give you a kiss

The owner of course won’t, His name is Chris.

There’s Dana, Ronnie, Kim, Carol, Harriet, Cindy and Rita

Let’s not forget Sherri, if we do she’ll beat yah

The people are what make this place so appealing

They treat you real nice with warmth and feeling

I have lots of friends who go there just to meet

We’ll order the burger or sometimes the treat

They’ll give you abuse, you miss not being home

It’s great when your down and feeling alone.

George Bush has been there and eaten a great meal

That was before we gave him the President’s Seal

The counter is the place if there is a choice

With Steve, George, Roy, Alice, Tom and Joyce

They serve greasy fries, custard pies with coffee and tea

If you look in the corner you might even find me.

Its name is Howley’s on U.S. 1 Highway

When you order a meal ask for it your way.

Don’t expect ambiance or Savoir Faire

We enjoy it so much we don’t really care.

Author's Notes:
The girls at this restaurant can rhyme with the best of them. "The soup.. Chicken & Rice it's really nice" They have helped me many times find a word that rhymes. "Your the guy that orders pie!" This is for all those who make my life a treasure at my home away from home....They printed this poem on thier placemats.

I thought I recognized the name, I have read some of your work. I am an old waitress and enjoy how you captured the ambiance of a small diner. Great people and I still miss some of my regulars. This is a great poem, joia
